Descending in blazing gold

The clouds wait in eager expectation

Honey-eyed sunfire melts to apricot copper

Topaz descends into embers on the horizon

Tangerine rusts into rosewood, then crimson

The clouds in the wings blush into mulberry 

Cobalt night chases amethyst streaks

Watercoloured vermillion

A cherry glow of violet dusk

Then bursting forth

A final frontier of radiant ruby

Pierces the inevitable obsidian of dusk

Before giving way to opalescent aubergine

And retreating into the dream soaked night
