The pillars of my life have been reduced to rubble
I am left standing in the aftermath of a hurricane
Faith, Family, Friends
All are strewn and broken
Passion and Joy lie with them
Like looters and pillagers,
Resentment, Bitterness, and Envy have made themselves at home
And they beckon their darker friends, Anger, Hate, and Lust closer each day
You will find me
Sleeping in the storm
Wishing it would all go away
Too weak to do anything
Too hard of heart to ask for help
And yet there is a distant light
That pierces the gloom
And a hand outstretched
Waiting.
