Life is like monkey bars
Over an abyss
I’m tiring
My fingers are slipping
And suddenly no longer holding
I’m falling
Through the abyss
Fear grips me
For a moment
I land
In the palm of Your hand
Soft, and secure
My fear is melted by the warmth of Your presence
I lie back
And look up
I see the monkey bars
But they are just a small part of an enormous playground
And where darkness made me see an abyss
I now see You
Holding it all
From You comes a great light
Illuminating my next rung
“No one who puts their trust in You
Will ever be put to shame”
You are my lifeline
A steady hand always holding me
I can never go back
I can never follow the monkey bars over an abyss
Not when I know you can see the whole playground
Not when I see You illuminating every new rung
You are my great comfort
All my hope is in You.
