The dam has been released

Over many months, the water has collected

Each drop adding to its weight

Pressing against the wall

Straining to be set free

All the while dreading seemingly inevitable stagnation

But in a rush

The dam is opened

With surprise and gratitude

The water tumbles down the river

Eventually settling into relaxed delight

Looking forward to its long journey to the sea.
